My Top 3 picks are :
1st: 10 points
4. Ed Bangalan "The
Box"
Comment: This is a very nice piece of inspiration comic.
The story is very plain, no surprise nor twist. IMO.The entire event was
a set up for the final punctuation--the last panel. This showed the stubbornness
of the hero and the stubbornness of human spirit in general. Face your demon.
Only the strong can do that.
Suggestion: The drawing quality is below par compare to
some other entries. May be Ed was more concentrated on the story therefore
he didn't has time to packet the comic in higher quality art.
2nd (tie) (8 points
each)
8.Yan Wen "Lost
And Freedom" 12. Chun "I
Lost My Balance"
Comment:Yan Wen's comic is a great example of misleading and
then surprise the readers fomular in comic writing: At first I thought it
was a typical shoujo self pity tear jerker... But the 2nd page really cracked
me up. The sharp contrast make this comic memorable.
Suggestion: I would like to see more pages per entry...
can't really pick a 2 pager as a winner
Comment:Chun's comic was a feel good comic. Full of hope and joy
. The art was great and the story moving smoothly. There are alot of surprise
in life, some good and some bad. After reading Chun's entry, I was reminded
life is not always so harsh.
Suggestion:(same as the comment I gave to Yan Wen)
Other comments:
1. Kendra
"The Pointlessness
of Cooking"
Comment:Sweet nothingness another feel good comic.
Suggestion: Don't really have any idea--seem like Kendra
was having fun when she drawn this comic. That's important:Having fun.
2. Jose"I Lost My Vampiric Walrus!"
Comment: It could be a CTR.
Funny stuff.
5. OFU "I Lost My Brain"
Comment: Great crazy fun. It is great to read if you are looking
for some No brainier comics to pass you time.
6.James
"I Lost
My..."
Comment: This was a faithful recap of one of my real life
experience. Only I knew what was going on, to others, this entry wouldn't
make much sense.
Suggestion: James should explain what my feeling was on
text. That make the comic more complete and stronger in emotional level.
7. OFU (2) "I
Lost My Life"
Comment: Great art, but really didn't have any plot.
10. Carrie O'Kaye "I
Lost My..."
Comment: Hard to understand what is the message in this
comic. the art is good thought
11. Padder "Freak
At Last"
Comment:Almost used the same formula as Yan Wen's entry's
But the degree of surprise was little bit less.
13. CR2 "Free
At Last"
Comment:The setup was very interesting.--In search of
the truth. I see CR2 put alot of effort on this entry, but the ending was
a bit disappointing. uneventful.
Suggestion: If the truth is the climax of a comic, the
author shouldn't let the readers know it before the last page.
14. Clay "A
Wedding Or A Funeral?"
Comment: The art was almost professional. You find this
kind of drawing on newspaper often.I epically like Clay telling a silly,
stupid with straight face. Again, sharp contrast of the details of the art
and completely insane meaningless punch made this comic stand out in my
mine.
Suggestion: It is an odd ball entry. I don't know how can
it be improved.
15. Jake
"The Trick"
Comment: Very Interesting beginning and middle
parts but the ending lack major punch. same mistake as CR2's entry made.
Suggestion: When a comic is building up expectation of
a climax, the author better deliver it.
16. Gelatin GuyI Lost
My Clean Pair Of Underwear (Late Entry)
Comment: Seem like a very possible personal experience.I laughed
out load when the main character enter the pool party.
Suggestion: It was a bit too predictable, try surprise
the readers more--I knew the punch line before the author delivered it.
