1."Frozen Fingers" by Alexe Cinz Cute little piece; I love to see people make fun of Shishio...^_- It seemed more like a conversation than an adventure with a point (that seems to be true of most MOM entries though ^_^), but it was a nice fan piece, and anyway, there's only so much story you can put in a few pages of manga.... ^_^

2. "By The Lily Pond" by Ameko You did this in four days? Nice job. ^_^ I thought the rabbit out of the hat and the first page with Miaka were both very funny. I'm glad Miaka got killed, too. ^_^

3. "Alone In The Snow" by Dadji Your page 2 looks haunting. Some of your faces had beautiful expressions, though there was a lot of inconsistency (I have no room to talk, though). The last few pages were incredibly sad and sweet. I liked it a lot.

4. "Chanced Encounter " by Darkhorse Feli's a girl...? I wouldn't have guessed...^^;;; Your title page was gorgeous, and you had a lot of nice mystery here...this was kind of more of an episode than a full story, but the characters seem to have some interesting stuff behind them (I've never read any of your other stuff, so I don't know what that is)...I liked it, and I'd like to see more about these characters....

5. "Secret of Lily" by Kaice Early on, you use a lot of exposition, explaining the basic premise, which is generally not a good idea....but it did allow you to just skip to the story, so in that way, it was okay (though finding her comrades on the Internet was really out there--but since you seemed to mean that to be funny, it's OK). The last few pages were really good, though; I figured Jye had to be Lanron for sure, but since you threw in him insisting he was just Lanron's friend...it makes things much more interesting and less clichéd.... Nice to see a 'to be continued' that FEELS like it should be continued, too...not like my stuff...^_-;;;

6. "Glorious" by Mamoru Nishikawa Your art was beautiful, and also beautifully colored. I was much more unclear about what was going on in the story, though...but I'm dense.

7. "Genesis Cooking" by Rainybutton Your art was cute. I can't comment on the story because I don't have the time to try out your recipe. ^_-

8. "Mimiko and the Frog Prince" by Tang Heh...I forgot Mimiko was your catgirl (cat angel?) until the last panel....poor frog. ^_^

9. "Lily Pond" by Seraphim What a sad and sweet, little story. Usually I wish people would have inked, but your work looks complete without it.

10. "Lilia" by Suika Your art is beautiful and nicely colored, and your little boy at the end is soooo cute...I wish there was more, though, even if it might wind up being a story with no conflict (and any dramatic theory person will rip your head off if you have a story with no conflict...::sweatdrops and hides her own work massively). Anyway, I'd like to see a more substantial work (story-wise), but this was gorgeous.

11. "Let's Take a Picture" by wsp Cute; nicely done with no words...just a little cute thing.

12. "Promise by the Lily Pond" by Evey Wong This was really cute; the way your characters refer to you and the fact that they're in a manga adds a self-awareness that makes the manga pretty witty, I think--I think your dialogue was fine, precisely because of your willingness to have a little fun with it. That's why maybe the dialogue seemed a little awkward on the first page where things *were* completely serious, but the rest was fine. Looks like you're continuing...I hope so. ^_^

13. "Courtly Love" chapter IX by Julie Bihn I was trying to let Jenner do something cool again...I failed... I know I was just lazy and pretty much drew nothing but faces, with not one exciting pose this whole chapter...-_- I'm going to try to have more interesting stuff next chapter, though (it's just...I'm not very good at it...^^;;;) ...I'm working on a plot...mwahahahaha.....::cough cough::

14. "The Knight of Staves Gambit " Act one by Kenji I still like the character of Eldrad; he's kind of a ditz, but I like that. ^_^ You might want to try either filling the black areas in on your computer or just using regular black ink (the kind you buy in a bottle and apply with a brush, or, some people suggest, a Q-Tip); the marker look was distracting... I assume the story will get more exciting, but this chapter felt pretty much like an introduction--nothing wrong with that, of course (and apparently some bad stuff's about to happen ^_-)--just, these seven pages in and of themselves didn't feel too important.....(but then, I cram so much stuff onto a page I would've done it in just two pages and *THAT* certainly would've been wrong ^_^;).

15. "At The Pond " by D_Art I found that somehow depressing.... Your use of hatching was generally very good, though sometimes the faces seem a little weird....but everything else is consistently well-shaded, so maybe that's intentional...? The first three pages or so felt to me like they could've been told as a radio play, or just without the characters being drawn there at all...it seemed like a lot of exposition, so it would've been more exciting if you had shown something besides them looking at each other over a lily pond.... The last panel being all black makes it seem almost like he got killed; I didn't *think* that was what was happening/you intended, but it kind of did...I'd say maybe if the last panel was white instead of black it'd help, but then, don't they say you head towards a white light when you die.....^^;;; Maybe gray. ^^; Anyway, it was a sweet little piece; I think I would've liked it more if it had been set in time a bit more (aside from the Germans reference it felt like it took place just the other day), but the emotions between the two characters were real. ^_^

16. "Doubt " by Fie san I already commented on the story on my board (I think that's what I commented on ^_^;)... Your art is just beautiful--your shadows look really cool, your drawing of inanimate objects (when you draw them ^_-) reflects a patience I'll never be able to muster; you must work very hard. ^_^; Your computer shading is really cool, too; it looks quick but professional. I liked the Christmas message about showing gratitude, etc., too (I should get more in the Christmas spirit ^^;). I said I'd comment on the layout, and yes, it's very good, although I think if I had a copy of it printed out I could read the whole thing in just a couple minutes......which is fine (it's like manga! ^_^), but right now I'm stuck with a phone line instead of the cable modem I have when I'm at school, so re-reading it is kind of a pain. ^_^; Your art is beautiful, though; I should take lessons from you to learn how to draw handsome guys...^^;;;; ((My votes: "Alone In The Snow " by Dadji and "Promise by the Lily Pond" by Evey Wong)) --Julie Duchess of Botan Rice Candy and Gadget fan jbihn@u.arizona.edu http://www.juliestudio.com
