1. Kekkou~chan "Pinky Promise": Very nice art. I could've done without the last page, though (it would've kept it more serious, although I guess some people don't like unhappy endings...wait, *I* don't like unhappy endings...). But then, I've never had the idea to have my entries played by characters, though it's not a BAD one...hmm...
2.wxp " Kang and Telly ": 'Strenuously' is a cool word. Honestly, I haven't been keeping up with "Kang and Telly" (or much of any MOM entries) so of course it's not as good if one doesn't know the backstory...(er...I read last month's! ^^;;;;;;;) Good clean lines; I like how the art is simple and pretty and complex all at once. If that made sense.
3.Ed Bangalan "To Get To The Other Side": Reminded me of a modern short story (it was much more interesting than most of the student-written junk we read in our class, though ^^; Fewer typos too. ^_-). Cool/unique character design. Her thoughts as she's about to be hit are sometimes cliches, but some of them work very well (ie. "He's not a bad man"). Great; now I'm critiquing it as if it were a modern short story... ^^; Anyway, I enjoyed it.
4.Elise Frappier " And Then there Was Silence ": Nice art, but I didn't 'get' all of the story, exactly. (The one thing I *have* learned from shoujo anime is that if a girl's upside down, it's a Very Bad Thing ^_-) I thought it started to get engaging at the third page, and wanted to know more.
5. Eleanor (nornor) Yiu " Off Course!": The proud captain's expressions in the first page were very nice. Since I look at dialogue more than anything else, I was kind of put off once I hit the second page, as I knew how the story would end. t_t (Reader's Digest rules! ^_-)
6. D_Art " Untitled": Unique drawings...(little round eyes instead of big oval eyes ^_-).
7.Linnaly " Untitled ": Ooh, I love guys in school uniforms.... ^_- Just drawing on standard 8 1/2 x 11 paper (so the whole page can make it onto the scanner, and so the grays can be adjusted more easily) would do wonders, I think...
8. Yume " The Sometimes Pinky Swear": I like the title "The Blank Stare of Silence." It looks like it took more effort to color them 'poorly' than it would've to just throw in some regular grays. ^_^; (Still looks better than my attempts at shading. ^_-;)
9.Bill Blume " And Then There Was Silence ": Realistic style (which I usually don't go for) with extremely tangible emotions (they practically jumped out of the computer screen at me). Definitely the best someone can do with a 'story' without using words...but I really would've liked to see a *story* (as it is, I'd be torn if I had to decide whether to say it was a 'story' or not, as it's basically one woman's memories--if you cut out the first page entirely, you'd basically have a two-shot, one-panel comic that got all the points across and could also be displayed in an art exhibit. It's almost more of a work of art or a mood piece than a comic (although it has the sequential art thing going, so it IS a comic...). I'd say what it made ME think of, but it's a sin to plug one's own comic in a comment, isn't it? ^_-;;;
10.AlexeCinz " And Then There Was Silence ": Why is it that every Gundam Wing doujinshi is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO well-drawn?! I'm no Gundam Wing fan (despite the fact that I'm a girl ^_-;) so, although I kind of 'got' a lot of it, the story did very little for me, although I still kind of have positive feelings for it... (Nice to see a GW doujinshi that isn't yaoi, though. ^_-) The way Heero saw Duo's words was really very funny. ^_^ And such pretty handwriting!!! Last page was also cute.
11. Julie Bihn " Lesson of the Kamiya Dojo (or The Kiss of Death!)": Er...the plans made my friends laugh. ^^;;; By the time I was done with it, even *I* didn't think it was funny.... Art? No comment. ^^; Too bad I don't have a decent JPG compressor... (The comic was actually inspired by another page which said they wanted to see a 'kiss scene' between Kenshin and Kaoru--me, I think some things are best left unshown; I think Kenshin's hugs in the manga are much more romantic than a slobbery kiss. ^_- Hey, that wasn't a critique! ::whacks self::)
12. Heather "Promise": I can't hear "Why Do Birds Suddenly Appear" without thinking of "The Simpsons." ^_^; Cool lettering, and I love the 'kid' figures on page one. You also draw 3/4 back-angle profiles much better than I do. ^^; I *really* felt like there should've been a lot more pages to this one... Wow--you can draw male and female hands so they look *different.* I'm in awe. ^_^ Nicely inked, too.
13. Ryeka " The Promise" Part One: I'd love to see this inked. It was rather interesting; I couldn't really understand why Mala and Kalia were so close, but their relationship was still sweet. True to 'part one' form, it left me wishing for more, although I would've liked more setup so I could understand what the heck was going on, character motivations, etc...
14. Tang " Friends": Cute, with a twist ending (as usual). I was half-asleep when I read it the first time so I didn't get the comedy at the end like I should've, so I felt awful stupid the second time I read it.... -_-;;;
15. Waiji "In Our Silence": Great artwork. I'm not sure if I like the whole concept of Waiji's submisions or not (the freaky trenchcoat guy) but it's interesting, at least.... Not much characterization in this one, but you can't do much with six pages (well, unless you're stupid enough to cram in eleven or fourteen panels a page...::whistles and shuffles off, sweatdropped::).
